Burnt any good books lately?

Lately, I've been seeing the slogan appear - mainly on anti-paedo blogs, but occasionally elsewhere amongst the general redneck community - saying "Protect children, boycott Amazon". How the one would logically result from the other isn't clear, but most of them parrot the same text, that Octaevius Altair, the author (or editor) of Viamund the Boy-Love Vampyre Says is a paedophile and predatory child-molester.

Now, the fact he's a paedophile is stated on his own pages, but as far as I can find out, the accusations of any criminal activity are entirely without foundation. Or to put it another way, are lies intended to defame him. Otherwise known as libel - which is illegal.

What's also interesting is that not one of the writers who are complaining about this book being sold seem to have actually read it. Even those who wrote reviews for Amazon's web site appear to have based their comments on the hype rather than the content. They want the book to be withdrawn from sale, not because of what it contains, but because of what they think of the subject. It would seem from the description that parts of the book might make for uncomfortable reading. That's OK, no-one is being forced to read it. What I object to is being forced not to read it. As a consenting adult, I have the right to make my own choices regarding reading matter.

This isn't the first time such pointless smear campaigns have come up. Not long ago, Judith Levine's Harmful to Minors was likewise pilloried because of its subject; before that, David Riegel's Understanding Loved Boys and Boylovers and Edward Brongersma's Loving Boys got the treatment, simply because of the title or even the importer's name, despite the fact that the latter has been out of print for many years.

Even when - or perhaps because - the books contain accounts from young people themselves who don't come under the "victim" mentality, the self-styled censors demand that we shall not be told this.

Having read both the Levine and Riegel books, I can state categorically that the accusations levelled, that they are pornographic, promote child abuse, etc., are false. I haven't read the Altair, but I intend to, and shall be able to comment on it then. I'm still trying to get hold of the Brongersma.

I have no objection at all to people saying that a book is bad. Providing they have read it and are able to explain their viewpoint with reference to the content. If they haven't, their opinions have no merit.

UPDATE for APRIL 11, 2007. - The stupid, dirty pigs at Google have deleted this site. Free Speech is a violation of Google Terms of Service. 

So today we see more talk of the upcoming budget - that will most likely pass - in the media. We already know that this is basically just a copy-cat budget of the former Prime Minister Paul Martin's Liberal government. Stephen Harper is trying to con the middle-class portion of Canada into believing that his ultra-right wing evangelical Christian government is somehow a middle-of-the-road safe alternative to the Liberals. It will be interesting to see if his dupe actually pays off. All the Conservatives want is a majority government.

Here is what the Conservatives will do if they get a majority government:

End Same-gender oriented (GAY) marriage

End the separation between state and church in Canada

Rasie the legal age of sexual consent from 14 to 16 years

Lower the age that children can be prosecuted as adults to 14 years

Abolish the Charter of Human Rights and Freedoms from Canada

Build more Super-max prisons

- with the charter gone - The conservatives will proceed to strip all minorities of their rights through majority rules polls and pass laws in Canada according to these polls

Turn Canada into a new State of the United States of America

We are aware that most of those who serve the neo-conservative agenda within the Canadian Conservative party are directly connected to the CNP. Provide them with a majority government and it won't take long for them to show how truly horrific their faces really are. Greater prison population, higher suicide rates are just a taste of what Canada will get. WE - the Canadian people - must educate ourselves to beware the Evil Conservative agenda. It will be the death of Canada.

It seems perhaps a daunting process to write a book but it actually is very simple. It is necessary for us to begin to encourage honest writing about the truth of the harmless nature of human sexuality. Do not be afraid to follow some simple rules and publish your own book. Here are some simple guidelines. You will only require MS WORD, Adobe Acrobat, Adobe Distiller and Adobe Photoshop.

You do not have to have a thing completely finished - to write it all out by hand and then to have to re-type it is a waste - . All you require is at least 80 - 300 pages or so (depending on the type of book you have in mind).

You begin the item with MS WORD and make sure the entire book is typed as a single document. You will save it as a document - I suggest you save it twice with 2 names to prevent accidental deletion -.

MS Word is a very simple program. Once you have completed your book - be it a fictional tale or many stories or poetry etc - the program lends itself to the insertion of any type of photos (TIFF images are best). The MS Word will enable you to format it easily according to pages and chapters and your table of contents. After the entire document is complete you just convert it to a PDF file. Don't forget to write an introduction to the book.

Create your own cover artwork. This can be a photo - as long as it is yours - or personal artwork you have done. I used Adobe Photoshop.

So let's see more honest writers begin to spread the truth about the harmless nature of human sexuality and the unjust targeting of sexual minorities for the purpose of illegal discriminatory practice and censorship. Actions speak louder than words. Do it.

For those of you who read this BLog and agree with the issues presented here, please show some support and buy my Book. Supportive action is always a good thing. Those individuals responsible for the many hate sites about me do not support freedom of speech or our agenda. They have left many negative comments about my book without having read a copy themselves. Let us show solidarity.

 The Conservatives believe it is possible for them to achieve their agenda by obtaining a majority government. They are attempting to weigh the public opinion in their favour as they are aware that they will finally be kicked-out soon. They attempt to detract from Stephane Dion through costly negative ads - before an election so that they are not penalized in the budget -. Stephen Harper then tries to dupe the Canadian Public into believing he actually cares about Canadians, through following the agenda in regards to government responsibilities that is  just a copycat of the former Paul Martin government. Such as the same 1 Billion Dollars to farmers. We - the Canadian People - can see right through you Stephen Harper and we don't like what we see. We never did.
