The Conservative Party in Canada Compares Itself to the Progressive Conservative Party - a defunct party -

Unbelievably, Stephen Harper was on television yesterday and was actually stating to the Canadian public that they can be trusted because the Progressive Conservative Party - a party that no longer exists - did some great things to protect Human Rights in Canada. So what? The Progressive Conservative party has nothing to do with the Conservative party. They are not the same party. They did not have the same leaders. The Progressive Conservative Party was successful because it was a small c Conservative party that managed to obtain a balance and keep control of the crazy radicals - such as the religious zealots and segregationists -. The Progressive Conservative Party owes it's demise to the creation of these large C Conservative parties, such as the Reform Party and this new Conservative party. Stephen Harper, your Conservatives are comprised exclusively of intolerant religious zealots, segregationists and people who think Canada would be a safe country if everybody was permitted to carry a loaded gun. This is not Canada. You and your supporters belong in another time or in another country. In Canada in the mid-1800's you still would not be happy - because the Legal Age of Sexual Consent in Canada at that time was twelve years old -.

Stephen Harper is once again trying to dupe the Canadian public by referring to things done by a party that doesn't exist and then saying that those actions somehow relate to his party. This is a lie. How do these Conservatives expect to obtain a majority government - so they can strip Canada down from all rights - when they lie to the public? It is because they suspect the average Canadian is so stupid that they will accept what the Conservatives say without question or inquiry.

" Just keep your mouth shut and believe everything that Stephen Harper says without question. Obey him. Pray and turn off your brain and obey Stephen Harper." say the Conservative supporters.

"Over my dead body." Reply all intelligent Canadians.

Which group do you want to belong to?

EXPOSE the lies of the Conservatives. They are not - nor have they ever been - nor will they ever be - The Progressive Conservative Party. The Progressive Conservative party is gone from Canada.

The truth will always be the truth. Why do the conservatives fear truth so much?

The Conservatives Tapestry of Lies

- Human sexuality is dangerous and sex is an evil force that the Canadian people need to be "protected" from.

- There are classes of criminals and classes of victims. Good murderers and bad murderers, good rapists and bad rapists, good victims and bad victims.

- Religion is something that should be an integral part of the working government and not separate from state.

- The best way to prevent gun crime is for every Canadian to carry a loaded gun.

AND now they are talking about leaders of a different party and trying to claim credit for things they did.

ALL these are untruth.

Why do the Conservatives fear truth so much? Are you on their list?

The Ugly Human Face of Violence: When pleasure is forbidden, violence is extolled

Reading a great deal of the recent massacre in Virginia is to delve into the question of why. Upon examination of the United States' cultural ebb, is to realize that pleasure is forbidden while violence is extolled. It has already been proven that we have violence systems/pleasure systems within the Human brain. To witness the growth of anti-pleasure philosophy within the Western Nations is to realize that this is accompanied - as always - with the growth of religious fundamentalism and the mental stagnation it breeds. It is only going to grow worse as long as we choose to ignore it. Cultures that place taboos on pleasure - especially human sexuality - result in increased rates of violent crime and suicide. These mass murders are a symptom of a sick culture. This problem will continue to grow worse as long as the root of it remains cloaked and ignored. It is time to stop concentrating on war making and to deal with the serious domestic issues. As always, time to embrace the light of reason and to ban completely the dark yolk of superstition that clouds the brain. Time to stop rewarding violence and to begin to concentrate and enforce the benefits of a joy/pleasure instead.

The Conservative Government Blatantly Panders to Sick Religious Groups: Here's More Proof

With a minority government at his command he still cannot help himself when it comes to pandering for his perverted religious masters. Here is a tale of these vulgar segregationists and their manipulation of the government. As always... behind closed doors and hoping it will escape the attention of the public. We have our eyes on you Stephen Harper. You're not slipping anything under the radar. Read about it here.

Religious group says it pushed private school tax credit

A group of Christian Schools is boasting that it convinced the government to bring in a tax credit for private school tuition. The Ontario Alliance of Christian Schools says it spent $175,000 on a lobbying campaign.

The Minister of Finance, however, denies he even met with their lobbyists.

"Sure I have met with lots of lobbyists, paid lobbyists on behalf of others. I don't think I met with anyone like that with respect to this issue," said Jim Flaherty when he was asked by reporters on Tuesday if he had given into lobbyists.

The Ontario Alliance of Christian Schools has a different version. In a fundraising letter sent out two weeks ago the alliance said it spent thousands of dollars lobbying for equal funding. The letter says alliance staff developed the tax credit proposal last fall, and together with the Canadian Jewish Congress, persuaded the government to put it in the budget.

"I'm not sure if it's an original idea, but I would say we had a lot to do with it," said John Vanasselt, who speaks for the schools, which teach 14,000 students.

The alliance says its lobbying is not yet finished. It is asking for half a million dollars to launch a two-year advertising campaign to persuade people to support the tax credit in the runup to the next election. It says it is going to have to increase lobbying activities to oppose what it is calling a counterattack against the government.

The Conservatives are so out of touch with ordinary Canadians that they actually believe these stupid, perverted, special interest groups are acceptable. How utterly vile they are. They are beneath contempt. Their pandering must be exposed. Those in our government with C.N.P. memberships should be ousted from power as well as from our country.

Conservatives Refuse to Participate in the 25th Anniversary Celebrations of the Charter of Rights and Freedoms

This should not come as a surprise to any Canadian that the Conservative government wants nothing to do with the celebrations in Ottawa to mark the 25th anniversary of the Charter of Rights and Freedoms. The Conservatives have already publicly stated that if they obtain a majority government, they will effectively rid Canada of the Charter of Rights and Freedoms - as well the separation between Church and State that exists in our country (couldn't do that with a Charter of Human Rights and Freedoms) -. I happened upon this story in the National Post.

Harper and ministers take a pass on marking charter milestone

Janice Tibbetts, CanWest News Service

Published: Tuesday, April 10, 2007

OTTAWA - The Harper government is giving a miss to a major Ottawa conference marking the 25th anniversary of the Charter of Rights, with the prime minister and three cabinet ministers turning down invitations to speak.

In fact, the milestone anniversary will be a muted affair within the government ranks, unlike the hoopla surrounding the 20th anniversary when the Liberals were in power five years ago.

The charter anniversary on April 17 is viewed as a major event in legal academia and the opposition Liberals, sometimes referred to as the “charter party” because they were the architects of the document, are making hay of the celebrations.

Former prime minister Jean Chretien, who was justice minister in the Trudeau cabinet when the charter was adopted, is addressing audiences in Montreal and Ottawa.

The current Liberal leader, Stephane Dion, who initially turned down an invitation to speak at the University of Ottawa conference, has had a change of heart, said Jack Jedwab, one of the conference organizers.

Jedwab said Prime Minister Stephen Harper, Justice Minister Rob Nicholson, Heritage Minister Bev Oda and former justice minister Vic Toews were also invited to address the April 16-17 event, but they declined.

Sandra Buckler, Harper’s communications director, and Genevieve Breton, Nicholson’s spokeswoman, said in e-mails both men had scheduling difficulties that precluded them from attending.

The Justice Department, however, has contributed $120,000 to conferences about the charter anniversary, including $20,000 for the University of Ottawa gathering, said department spokesman Patrick Charette.

Bruce Ryder, a law professor at York University’s Osgoode Hall Law School in Toronto, said declining invitations to speak is a “symbolic” move from a government that he said has never championed the Charter of Rights and Freedoms.

“It says something about the priorities of the government,” he said. “Since the government has not shown a commitment to charter rights and making them accessible to Canadians, it’s disappointing to see their failure to use the anniversary as an opportunity to affirm the importance of charter rights.”

Last fall, the government cancelled the Charter Challenges Program, which helped interest groups to challenge federal laws on equality grounds.

The $2.8-million-a-year program handed out funding for hundreds of court battles over the years claiming rights such as gay marriage, prisoner voting, and a Criminal Code prohibition on spanking children.

Neither Harper’s nor Nicholson’s spokespersons would confirm whether the prime minister or the justice minister would be addressing charter events outside Ottawa.

Jedwab said the conference, despite perceptions in some quarters, is not meant to be a “rah-rah” event celebrating the charter, but a reflection on the good and the bad.

While he produced a letter confirming Harper was invited last Nov. 15 to be a keynote speaker, Buckler said her boss was only asked to attend a $150-per-person dinner featuring Chretien.

Christopher Manfredi, a political scientist at McGill University in Montreal, cautioned against reading too much into the Harper government giving the Ottawa conference a pass. Manfredi noted Ian Brodie, Harper’s chief of staff, addressed a Montreal conference in February marking the 25th anniversary.

The 1982 Charter of Rights codified rights for Canadians, such as freedom of religion, expression, and association, the legal right to life, liberty and security of the person, and the right against unreasonable search and seizure. Equality guarantees, including freedom from discrimination based on age, sex, race, or disability, came into effect in 1985.

Five years ago, the 20th anniversary of the Charter of Rights and Freedoms erupted into a political battle when the opposition, including what was then the Canadian Alliance party, argued the rights revolution had gone too far.

“Canadians have often disagreed with some of the changes the charter has affected in our society as a result of certain court decisions,” Toews, who was the Alliance justice critic, said at the time.

On the same day, Chretien led a special tribute at the National Arts Centre in which he lauded the charter as the most profoundly democratic document in our history.

Actions will always speak louder than words. The Right-wing Evangelical Christian Conservatives are not a party that belongs in Canada.

Google Faces Pressure Over Censorship

Apparently a collection of Google shareholders is trying to force Google to comply with protection of free speech. This is primarily an issue where they believe Google is active in countries that do not support free speech - tyrannical regimes - such as China, Iran etc. I would be delighted to know if this will apply to countries such as the U.S.A., where free speech exists only in theory but is prevented in practice. Just look at the disgusting behavior of BLOGGER and Google services such as Froggle - where my account was deleted without explanation, even though my book is perfectly legal -. Read all about the story here.

Google Faces Pressure Over Censorship

Shareholders will have the opportunity to vote on a proposal during the upcoming annual meeting that would call on Google to take a strong stance against censorship and abusive regimes.

Delving into the mind-numbing forms and filings made by publicly traded companies is a lot like muckraking. That's a term that has been applied, usually negatively, to journalists over the years. The person with the figurative shovel and a persistent attitude gets tagged with a pejorative just for working hard.

Sometimes the old muckrake turns up a nugget of gold, as the New York Times did when they excavated some valuable bits from Google's 14-A filing with the SEC. While it's fascinating to be reminded, yet again, that Google's billionaire power trio of Eric Schmidt, Larry Page, and Sergey Brin will draw a $1 salary, something that has made it onto Google's slate of activities for its annual stockholder meeting is a little more intriguing.

The Office of the Comptroller of New York City controls several powerful pension funds: police, fire, teachers, and city employees among them. They own 486,617 shares of Google's Class A stock, and are using their position to force Google's shareholders to consider the company's ongoing role in countries that routinely censor the Internet.

Their proposal would require Google's management to help protect the freedom to access the Internet by individuals in countries ruled by authoritarian governments. The Funds have asked Google not to retain personally identifying information "in Internet restricting countries, where political speech can be treated as a crime by the legal system."

Google would also have to use all legal means available to resist censorship demands. "Technology companies in the United States have failed to develop adequate standards by which they can conduct business with authoritarian governments while protecting human rights to freedom of speech and freedom of expression," the proposal said.

Google's board of directors, which includes Schmidt, Page, and Brin, oppose the proposal and have recommended their shareholders reject it also. Their control of millions of Class B voting shares will likely keep it from being passed.

The proposal would affirm Google's need to comply with governmental demands only where legally binding procedures require it. Google has resisted placing some services in China that would retain the kind of personal information the proposal opposes, so there is some precedent for the New York request.

Google's board should look at Yahoo as an example of how data retention in an authoritarian country can backfire on the company globally. Data drawn by authorities in China from Yahoo's businesses has led to the incarceration of three journalists. The organization Reporters Without Borders has been furious with Yahoo over this, and their displeasure has quite naturally made it into the media.

Perhaps there is hope that the public will be made aware of the disgraceful behavior that Google practices in regards to censorship in the U.S.A.

Feds grant private taxes to private schools

By CP

The Harper government is giving a tax break to families who send their kids to elite private schools, raising the ire of public education advocates.

Under a little-noticed measure in last month's budget, scholarships and bursaries to attend elementary and secondary school will now be fully tax exempt.

Finance officials estimate the new exemption will mean "significant tax savings" for about 1,000 students -- or, by extension, their parents.

Officials insisted that the exemption applies to scholarships for either public or private schools. But they couldn't supply any examples of public schools -- which are funded from the public purse and don't charge tuition fees -- awarding scholarships or bursaries.

Jim Christopher, executive director of the Canadian Association of Independent Schools, said the exemption would apply primarily to students at about 100 exclusive independent schools.

But Christopher hastened to add that the tax exemption is not "a perk for the wealthy." On the contrary, Christopher said, the elite schools offer scholarships to those who would otherwise be unable to afford their steep tuition fees, which run as high as $45,000 a year for boarding schools.

Stephen Harper is the most despicable, loathsome, sleazy scumbag in all of Canada. Time to tar and feather him and railroad him out of our country. Which neo-conservative master programmed your brain today Mr. Harper? You belong in Mobile Alabama not in Canada.
